It
is important for athletes to realize that "dietary supplements"
are not regulated. For many supplements, this means you cannot necessarily
or automatically trust the ingredients label or the claims about what
the product will do for you. All supplement labels must contain a statement
that the "product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent
any diseases". Additionally, product labels must contain a warning
that the "product is a food supplement" and the statements "have not been
evaluated by the FDA".
